Suddenly, I want to tell you the story of a person who touched my heart. It is the confession of a doctor who leads Joseph’s Clinic. He was the greatest authority in his field and a professor. The path he chose after giving up his professorship was, surprisingly, taking care of the homeless and wanderers who couldn't afford to pay a penny.
Not long after he started this job, a person who had been wandering around after being released from prison came to him. He said,He ended up killing someone because he was angry. Because of that, he was in prison for 20 years, but there was no one in the world who would take him in. He wandered around the world like that and got sick, and it turned out to be lung cancer.
The director wanted to treat him as a human being, not as a doctor or a facility manager. He wanted to make him feel that ‘you are no longer alone.’ In the process, the director did his best to treat him. However, his body could not endure the chemotherapy. He could not move his body at all and died. The doctor must have mourned so much. He wiped his moist eyes with a handkerchief, as if they were about to burst into tears, and confessed:
“I cried without realizing it, thinking that I had spent my life so helplessly in my product. I have experienced countless deaths in the university hospital for over 20 years, but I never shed tears. But I started to cry. It felt like I had been hit in the head really hard. I vaguely think I know what I have to do here.”
He was always embarrassed by the angels here. One time, a homeless patient who couldn’t use his lower body was brought to the hospital. He had not washed for so long that his entire body stank. He had to wash his feet and anus for treatment, but because of the stench from his body, he couldn’t bring himself to wash his feet and the area around his anus.
Then, a volunteer quietly took off the homeless patient’s clothes and doused his feet with warm water several times. Then he kissed his feet. At that moment, the volunteer’s expression seemed to show that there was no more stench, and he washed his feet and the area around his anus cleanly. To him, this scene was the ‘most sacred and beautiful scene.’
He, who had been busy with worldly affairs and had enjoyed all kinds of good positions and honors, now learned how to smile with his heart and found a life where he could be grateful to the world. I was deeply moved by how pure his heart was.
Yes. A person whose first heart lasts until death is truly a person whose last days are beautiful. Even as they grow old, they still have warm tears toward their souls, and a heart full of gratitude, and they are truly living a rich life.
Grace is a person who cannot live without prayer.
Knowing how weak she is,
she always and constantly prostrates herself before God in prayer and supplication.
In the meantime, she wants to devote her entire life to the Lord through self-control and thorough self-management.
Let's go to God once,
with a happy heart and a smile at the end of her life!
